Why is the melt-in balm+ sticky?

shea butter is actually a solid compound but it has been formulated with a lower melting point in this balm to help ease of spreading. To help it spread you need to use only a small quantity like a pea size and heat it by rubbing between your palms and then apply, if you need more then repeat the process but do not try to use a huge amount in one go.
